Critical Look
In fashion, as in life itself, everything begins with education. When cities such as Dakar, Cape Town, or Lagos began to host their first design schools, it was only a matter of time before they became a breeding ground for talent and business. Today, African designers enjoy the recognition of critics in Paris, Milan, and New York. The coexistence of traditional textile techniques and cutting-edge tools has resulted in collections that are as visually striking as they are socially responsible. The film presents a modern, artistic, and self-assured Africa that rejects reductionism (there is no single “African style,” just as there is no “European style”) and lives in tune with the zeitgeist.
