INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

A key figure in Detroit’s second wave of techno, Carl Craig is one of the artists who most expanded the genre. From the secrecy of the early scene to the grandeur of New York’s Carnegie Hall—via clubs in Chicago, L.A., and London—the film traces the personal and artistic journey of the “Miles Davis of techno.” As Laurent Garnier attests, the track “Desire” stands as the ultimate proof of this artist’s ability to “make machines cry.” By incorporating elements of jazz, industrial music, and the polyrhythms from the print shop where he once worked, Craig has forged a free, emotional, genre-defying vision within the spectrum of electronic music.

Cast: Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, Kenny Larkin, Roni Size, Jon Dixon, Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dixon Jr. (Moodymann), Fabio, Moritz Von Oswald, James Lavelle.
