The first official doc on Russell Tyrone Jones, founding member of Wu-Tang Clan and hip-hop icon, explores how Ol’ Dirty Bastard—his alter ego, a rap superhero—was born, and how that character ultimately consumed the man behind it. The film doesn’t shy away from hot topics: legal troubles, addictions, and the FBI’s near-constant surveillance of Wu-Tang for years. Through raw and moving testimonies from friends and family, unseen home-video material, and interviews with his longtime musical partners from Staten Island (NY), the portrait captures an artist of overwhelming talent and swag—yet perhaps one simply not built for everything that came with fame and success.
