NATIONAL OFFICIAL SECTION
In her directorial debut, María Valverde follows Jennifer, Gabriel, and José, three deaf musicians from Venezuela who take on the challenge of staging, for the first time in sign language, Beethoven’s Fidelio together with the El Coro de las Manos Blancas (White Hands Choir) and under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. Between rehearsals and performances in Caracas and L.A., the film explores how they experience and feel music through the body, vibration, and community. With delicacy and expressive nuance, it reveals both the creative process and the protagonists’ lives offstage, highlighting the inclusive power of art and how music can extend far beyond the act of listening.
Cast: José Gabriel Abarca, Jennifer González, Gabriel Linarez, Alberto Arvelo Mendoza, Gustavo Dudamel.
