The life story of Cro-Mags founder and New York Hardcore icon is almost inconceivable. With a harsh childhood marked by parental neglect, abuse, and the Andy Warhol scene —culminating in his entry into the punk scene at age 11 as drummer for the Stimulators— and a teenagehood in the Lower East Side that reads like Lord of the Flies, Harley Flanagan and numerous witnesses recount how, against all odds, the “mad dog” of hardcore who never shied away from a fight —whether on the street, on stage, or on the mat— managed to emerge alive, and at peace, from utter chaos.
