10th Anniversary - International Circus Festival Gold Elephant of Girona

After the success of its nine editions with more than 255.000 spectators, on February 2022 Girona will be for the fifth time the scene of the only true International Circus Festival in our country. With a similar image as those of WuQiao, Budapest, Monte Carlo or París, Girona offers a window to the world for the promotion and diffusion of Circus Arts.

The International Circus Festival Gold Elephant was born with the pretention to present in each edition the 24 best attractions ever seen in European circuses. More than 80 artists of a 14 countries will compete in front of an international jury composed by 15 important directors and experts from circuses around the world. The two semi-finals (Blue and Red Shows, which are totally different) and the final (Gold Show) will be performed in the new Big Tent with a capacity for 2.400 spectators, situated in the Camp de Mart – La Devesa of Girona.

In total there will be 16 performances for more than 30.000 spectators. Since its creation, this new meeting point has become the European gateway for those artists who want to introduce themselves on the market of the Old Continent.

The Circus in the Spanish State entered a deep crisis at the end of the 70’s: at the same time that the quality shows disappeared, circus became a synonym for banal children’s amusement only. The International Circus Festival Gold Elephant is one of the only current references in our country in terms of maximum quality, and therefore, a show that appeals to all audiences without discrimination of age, race or social status. Girona wants to be consolidated as one of the European circus capitals inside the world map of great events of the always-fascinating world of the ring.
