PROGRAMME

Composed at a time when society was unexpectedly closed down on a global scale, Salvador Brotons’ Covid-19 Sensations is an emotional and musical journey through the experience of the health emergency that led to lockdown. Subtle at the beginning, the scope of the piece eventually acquires great impact.

The Suite segarrenca by Joan Lluís Moraleda, dating from 1978, can be heard for the first time in a version for band. Its composer made a name for himself with light music, but then became famous for his contribution to traditional forms, including the sardana.

The last item on the programme is the Suite empordanesa by Juli Garreta, a composer that Stravinsky heard live and whose art he enthusiastically applauded.
