Programme
The collision of two worlds, those of musical tradition and experimentation, along with the exaltation and observation of nature, provide eternally fertile ground for the work of Arnau Obiols.
This new project, titled Ocelltambor (“Drumbird”), is imbued with symbols and languages that are a constant feature of his transhumanist art: the celebration and veneration of the oral legacy of the Pyrenean peaks and the incessant heartbeat of the earth.
Simultaneously earthly and soaring, Obiols’s songs evoke those raw materials of life that are both tangible and invisible: forests with deep roots and raised branches, stars, flocks of birds, fog and wind, the mature wisdom of the elderly and the overflowing purity of children’s laughter.
His verses shout out, with great force, a fundamental and positive message: although it is eternally beset by challenges, the world continues to persist, to breathe, to live and to affirm. Because everything is here and now, we must celebrate it consciously and gratefully, and – like this new album – savour it slowly.
