Programme
This concert will open with a highly evocative work that transports the spectator to one of the most emblematic dramatisations of love. Mary Shelley meets Frankenstein, conceived in 2019 by the composer Erika Svanoe, imagines a scenario in which the creator meets her creature, with a narrative articulated by tango rhythms, as described by the subtitle: A Modern Promethean Tango.
Peter Moore will then perform a work by Gunter Schuller, Eine kleine Posaunenmusik (A Little Trombone Music), in which the powerful sonority of the wind instrument takes centre stage. The concert will conclude with a selection adapted for band from Sergei Prokofiev’s famous 1935 ballet Romeo and Juliet, in which the expressiveness of human passion acquires a captivating resonance.
